Full light, cold to intermediary temperature, flower in spring late
Found in Java in humid and dry montane forests at elevations of 1500 to 2200 meters as a large sized, cold to warm growing epiphyte and occasional terrestrial with erect, red, shiney, swollen medially stem carrying 10 to 12, plae green, almost terete, gradually smaller apically leaves that blooms on a 1" [2.5 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from near the apex of the stem, with color variable, short-lived flowers occurring in the summer. water and fertilizer should be reduced so the plant is slightly dry between waterings through the winter months and resumed only after the onset of new growth in the spring.
