Found in Southern Ecuador at elevations of 2200 to 2700 meters in dry rocky regions as a miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial with an elongate rhizome with 1.6" [4 cm] between each ovoid pseudobulbs enveloped basally by 2 to 3 foliaceous sheaths and carrying thick, stiff, coriaceous, linear, acute, basally clasping leaves that blooms at most any time of the year on a basal, erect, 4" [10 cm] long, 4 to 7 successively flowered inflorescence with 5 distant, acuminate, acute bracts
